The moment my 3D printed insert melted a whole game night in Portland
I was hosting a big 6 player session of Arkham Horror at my place in Portland, and I thought I was being smart by using a custom 3D printed token organizer I bought off Etsy. About 45 minutes in, I reached for the chaos tokens and the tray literally snapped in half, sending pieces flying across the table and into my friend's coffee. Turns out the filament was cheap PLA and the humidity from sitting near my radiator all week made it brittle. We lost 20 minutes of setup and two sanity tokens ended up behind the radiator, which I only fished out at cleanup. I've since switched to a felt-lined foam insert and I check the print material before buying anything like that again. Has anyone else had a storage solution fail mid-game, or do you stick with the cardboard inserts to avoid this risk?
Been there with the cheap 3D printed stuff. My buddy made a token tray for Gloomhaven out of some old filament he had lying around and it warped so bad after a few weeks that the lid wouldn't even close. What finally worked for me was hitting up a local shop that does laser cut wood inserts, way sturdier than anything I printed at home and it doesn't care about humidity at all. Cost a bit more but I haven't had a single thing crack since.
