Always thought a 3/8 drive was fine for boiler tube nuts until yesterday.

I was working on a 1950s firetube in Tacoma and my old ratchet just kept slipping on the final quarter turn, even with a cheater bar. Switched to a buddy's 1/2 inch drive impact and it zipped them right off without rounding a single corner. How do you all decide when to step up your tool size for stubborn fittings?

Man, that reminds me of trying to get a rusted caliper bolt off my truck last year. My 3/8 just flexed like crazy, felt like it was gonna snap. Grabbed the 1/2 inch breaker bar and it came loose with a scary crack. Sometimes you just need the bigger stick, lol.

Yeah, that's the worst feeling when your tool just gives up.

Totally, it's like life's little reminder that brute force beats finesse sometimes. Happens with jar lids and stubborn people too.
