Finally swapped out my old oxy-acetylene torch for a plasma cutter...

I used to fight with my oxy-acetylene rig every time I needed to cut heavy plate, especially on a big job over in Gary last month. That thing took forever to heat up and left a mess of slag. A buddy let me try his Hypertherm plasma cutter on a 1-inch flange, and I cut through it clean in under 2 minutes. I finally bought my own 45-amp unit last week, and the difference in speed is night and day. Only thing is, I'm burning through tips faster than I thought I would. Any tips on getting more life out of your consumables?

Have you tried dropping the amperage a bit for thinner cuts?

Yeah, I was a diehard oxy guy until I tried plasma. Changed my mind quick.
