Heard a guy at the job site in Gary say 'a boiler is just a bomb with manners' and I can't get it outta my head
Was doing a shutdown at the mill in Gary, Indiana about 3 months back and this old hand named Duane said that line while we were pulling a burner. Everyone laughed but then he went quiet and pointed at a relief valve that hadn't been tested since 2019. Said if you treat every drum like she's gonna let go, you check the small stuff without being asked. I've been on tubes for 11 years and I still catch myself skipping the walk around before a light off. Since that day I do the full loop twice, once with my hands and once with my eyes. Cost me 20 extra minutes a shift. Any of you got a saying from an old timer that actually stuck with you?
