Just finished my 500th weld on the new pressure vessel at the plant
I was logging my work hours and saw the count. It felt like a lot, but seeing that number really hit me. Each one is a full penetration joint, all x-ray clear so far. That's a lot of time under the hood in the last three weeks. Makes you think about the scale of what we build, you know? Anyone else ever get surprised by a job tally like that?

Ever think about what that number really means in wire and gas? 500 welds is a lot of consumables. I'd be checking my gear right about now. That's a ton of heat cycles on your torch liner and contact tip. @baker.betty is right about it adding up to something real, but it also adds up to wear on your machine. Clean your ground clamp and check your cables for any nicks before you start the next 500.

That's a solid number right there. Hit 300 certified welds on a big pipe run last year and had the same moment. You don't notice it day to day until you see the total. All that time in the hood adds up to something real you can point at. Good feeling.
