Lost a $300 contract over a bad rod storage setup

I kept my 7018 rods in a cracked tube and didn't think twice about it. Showed up to a job in Gary last Tuesday, the flux was peeling off everything, and the inspector shut me down on the spot. Anyone else get burned by something this small on the prep side?

Rod tubes crack from shipping, not a big deal usually, and Gary's not exactly a clean room either. You're telling me you never wiped down a rod before running a bead or checked the flux with your thumb? That's on you for not doing a 10 second spot check before you loaded the truck, not the tube.
