Changed my mind about audiobooks after a long drive

I used to think audiobooks were cheating until I drove from Austin to Dallas for a family thing last month. Listening to Circe made the traffic disappear and I actually remembered more details than when I read the print version. Has anyone else had a format switch totally change their mind about a book?

Yeah, "made the traffic disappear" is exactly it. Audiobooks just hit different when you're stuck behind the wheel for hours. I still prefer reading at home, but for drives they're a total game changer.

Do you find your brain still processing the story as text though? I mean, I catch myself doing that sometimes, like I'm reading along in my head. Maybe it's just me but the narrator's voice kind of becomes the character's voice after a while.
