Hit 50 books read this year and it threw me off

I counted up my reading log yesterday and realized I've read 50 books since January. That's DOUBLE what I managed last year, and I honestly have no idea how that happened with work and life being so busy. Has anyone else had a milestone sneak up on them like that?

the "sneak up" part is so real. honestly the only way i've kept my numbers up without feeling like i'm glued to a book is to always have something on my nightstand AND something in my bag for lunch breaks. i found that switching between a physical book and an ebook on my phone made a huge difference because i'd read five pages waiting for coffee and suddenly that's a whole book in two weeks. also, i let myself dnf stuff if it's not clicking, wasted time is the real killer for monthly totals.

Honestly, the five pages waiting for coffee thing reminds me of my friend Jenna. She told me she finished an entire 400 page thriller just by reading a few pages every time she was microwaving her lunch at work. She'd stand there with the door open, book in one hand, fork in the other, and before she knew it she'd be 50 pages deep without even trying. Wasted time is definitely the real killer, she always says the same thing about DNFing stuff.
