I was totally wrong about audiobooks counting as reading
I used to roll my eyes at people who said they 'read' a book via audiobook. Figured it was cheating, like skipping the actual work of reading. Then I started a 45-minute commute last month and gave it a shot with 'Project Hail Mary'. I finished it in 6 days and remembered every detail better than some paper books I've read. Has anyone else changed their mind on this after trying it for a specific reason?

Not quite "cheating" - it's different neurology, not easier.

Wait, are you saying using different parts of your brain doesn't make it easier to do something?

Exactly @maxmurphy, that "different neurology" part is what gets me. Like when I'm learning a new grooming technique, my brain sometimes just clicks with it in a way that feels different from forcing myself through the motions. It's not that one way is cheating, it's just your brain finding its own shortcut without you even trying.
