In my book club someone said I was reading too fast and missing stuff
A guy named Mark in my Tuesday night book club told me to slow down. He said I was burning through pages but not catching the small details that make a book stick. I ignored him for three months and kept my pace. Then I reread one of the books we did earlier and realized I totally missed the foreshadowing on page 112. Now I take notes after each chapter and it changes how the discussions go. Has anyone else had a book club member call them out on a habit that actually helped?

Page 112 is a solid reminder that speed reading is just skimming with extra steps. The real test is if you can recall the foreshadowing in a discussion three weeks later without checking your notes. Most book clubs turn into plot summary competitions, so catching those details separates the readers from the page turners.

Always thought I was a fast reader but you just called me out hard.
