Our club kept fighting over snacks until I started writing the snack list into the book vote
We burned 40 minutes of a Tuesday meetup at Rita's house arguing about who brought the bad hummus, and we never even got to chapter 12. So I started sneaking two snack options onto the same ballot we use for picking the next book, and people just vote for the whole thing without thinking about it. Last meetup had zero snack complaints and we got through 9 chapters. Does your group deal with this, or is it just us that fights about food more than the ending?
40 minutes over hummus is wild but I believe it. My group had a whole meltdown at Devon's place over who was supposed to bring the "good" crackers and it turned into a thing about money, which was way worse than the book talk. What I want to know is how you pitched the snack vote to Rita and the rest without them feeling like you were sneaking one past them. Did anyone notice the extra line on the ballot the first time, or did it really slide by clean? And has anyone tried to add their own thing to the vote now that they see it works?
