Overheard a lady at Chapters say the villain in Gone Girl was 'just misunderstood' and I almost dropped my books.

I mean, did we read the same book where she framed a guy for murder and then faked her own pregnancy, or did I miss the part where that's a reasonable reaction to a bad marriage, has anyone else run into readers who totally miss the point of an unlikeable character?

Wait, she seriously thought faking a pregnancy and framing someone was just a little misunderstanding?

Faking a whole pregnancy is already unhinged but the framing part is what gets me. She had to have planned it out step by step like picking someone to blame and planting fake evidence. That is not a misunderstanding. That is a full blown criminal scheme with premeditation. Most people would crumble under the pressure of lying that big but she went for months possibly.
