Overheard my kid's book club dissing the classics

My daughter's group was trashing Great Expectations saying it drags, and I got all defensive till I remembered I quit Moby Dick at page 200 myself back in 2011. Made me wonder if we push old books out of habit instead of because they still hit. Anyone else had a club moment where you realized the young readers had a point?
