Shoutout to the person who called my book club picks 'safe and boring'

Someone in my group said that last month, after I picked another modern fiction book. They said we always read the same kind of thing and it makes for dull talks. So this time, I grabbed a weird sci-fi novel from the 1970s that I found at a yard sale for 50 cents. Our debate last night was wild... people were actually yelling about the ending. It made me realize I was picking books to avoid fights, not start good ones. What's the most out-there book your club has read that actually sparked a real argument?

Good to know I'm not the only one who did that. My grandmother had this old red plaid cookbook, must have read it cover to cover a dozen times as a kid. Never made half the stuff in there, just liked looking at the pictures and imagining.

Honestly, same. My mom and I used to read her old Betty Crocker cookbook like it was a storybook.
