Appreciation post: My cheap bone folder from the craft store was wrecking my paper
I kept getting these faint, greasy-looking crease lines on my text blocks. Switched to a Teflon folder I found for $15, and the difference is night and day, no more marks. Anyone have a favorite brand for folding delicate papers?

My old Teflon one actually left marks after a year, switched to a glass folder and it's been perfect.

Aren't we getting a little precious about crease marks on paper here? Unless you're printing museum quality books, a faint line on a text block isn't going to ruin anyone's life. @fiona_sullivan29 switching to glass sounds like an upgrade, but plasticizer leaching is one of those things that sounds scarier than it actually is in real use. I've been using the same cheap bone folder for years and the paper doesn't seem to mind. Maybe try a dryer sheet on it first before buying a whole new tool.

That's actually a common issue with some plastic folders. The grease isn't from the tool, it's from the plasticizer leaching out of the material over time. A Teflon or bone folder won't have that additive. My old one did the same thing.
