Holy crap, wait hold on. Your grandpa's books are from the 70s and still around? That's wild because most glued books from that era are basically dust by now. I mean I've seen old paperbacks from the 80s where the whole spine just crumbles if you look at it wrong. But hand sewn stuff from the 70s holding up for 50 years feels like it proves the opposite of what that study says. Maybe it depends on the kind of glue or thread they used back then or something.
