Just figured out that wrapping my text block in a strip of card stock before rounding the spine stops the creasing, after wrecking 7 signatures on a rebind

Seven signatures though? That seems like a lot to lose before trying something different. I've done maybe 20 rebinds and never had creasing that bad, are you using super thick paper or something? Card stock trick sounds fine but honestly it might just be hiding a bigger issue with how tight you're pulling the spine.
