Lost a whole run of 40 signatures to a dull needle on a Tuesday in Milwaukee
Poked through and the thread shredded every third or fourth gather, so I stayed up till 2am redoing them by hand. Anyone else keep a spare needle in the drawer now because of one bad night?
That line about a dull needle on a Tuesday in Milwaukee made me wince, because I read a blog post from a bookbinder last year who said the same thing happened to her. She kept track and found her needle went bad way faster than she expected, like every 8 to 10 hours of work. Now she swaps them out on a schedule instead of waiting for the shredding to start. I picked up the habit too and keep a little tin of spares right in the drawer. That 2am redo night is brutal and you only need it to happen once.
