My cat decided my leather paring knife was a chew toy
So I had this old leather paring knife from a flea market in Springfield, and my cat Jasper got to it while I was grabbing coffee. I had to choose between letting him keep it as his new favorite thing or trying to pry it out of his mouth. I went for the grab, which was a mistake because he bolted under the couch with it. Now the blade has tiny teeth marks all along the edge. Anyone have a good method for fixing up a chewed-up knife, or is it just a lost cause?

Oh man, that's the worst. Jasper turning your find into a chew toy is such a cat move. My old tabby did the same thing to a wooden spoon handle once, left it looking like a beaver got to it. For the knife, a fine sharpening stone might smooth out those tiny marks if they're not too deep. But honestly, those little teeth dents might just become part of its story now.

Yeah, the "part of its story" thing is so true. My dog gnawed the corner of a vintage book I found, and I was mad at first. But now when I see those teeth marks, I just remember him as a puppy. It's like @clark.iris said, those little dents from Jasper might bug you now, but later they'll just be a memory of him. A fine stone did help smooth the worst of it on an old pocket knife of mine, but I left a few small marks on purpose.
