Ruined a customer's family Bible on my first solo rebind in Cincinnati
I was resewing the spine on a 1890s family Bible at my bench on Gilbert Ave and the old paper cracked right down the middle of the genealogy page because I pulled the thread too tight. I stopped, called the owner, and told her straight what happened, then spent 3 weekends scanning every page and doing a paper repair with wheat paste and Japanese tissue. Has anyone else had a repair go sideways and how did you break the news to the owner?
