Switched from PVA to wheat paste on my last restoration, and the spine finally flexed right
I was rebinding a 1930s atlas last month and used wheat paste for the first time instead of my usual PVA. The big difference showed up when I opened it, the pages relaxed into the curve instead of fighting it, and the hinges didn't crack at all after 20 test openings. I mixed it 1 part flour to 4 parts water and cooked it slow on the stove. Anyone here use a different ratio for thin paper?
