Am I the only one who switched from a fern to a snake plant and finally stopped killing houseplants?
I kept buying ferns for my apartment in Seattle for about two years and every single one turned brown and crispy within a month no matter how much I misted them. My neighbor gave me a snake plant cutting last spring and I basically ignored it in a corner with indirect light and watered it maybe once every three weeks. That thing has doubled in size and pushed out four new leaves while my last fern lasted exactly 19 days. I think the fern needed way more humidity than my place gets and I was just guessing at what it wanted. Has anyone else had luck with a plant that seems to thrive on neglect, and what should I try next?
