Caught a snippet from a veteran gardener about watering at dawn
Heard an old guy at the community garden say watering at night makes fungus worse, and I've been doing it wrong for 3 years. Anyone else dealt with leaf rot from bad timing?

Read somewhere that morning watering lets leaves dry out before night sets in.

Yeah, my buddy Tom learned that one the hard way. He was watering his tomatoes late in the evening all last summer. Ended up with powdery mildew real bad. @martin.vera, you're spot on about the morning thing - Tom's plants finally cleared up once he switched.
