Finally saw someone treat a philodendron like a succulent at the shop yesterday

I was at the nursery on Broadway picking up soil and watched a customer grab a Birkin, pull off half the leaves, and say "it needs less water like my jade." I wanted to say something but I just stood there holding my bag of perlite. Has anyone else had to bite their tongue watching bad advice in real time?

Oh man, I feel your pain so much. Honestly, I've been there more times than I can count. It's that moment where you're just frozen, holding your stuff, and your brain screams "nooooo" but your mouth won't move. Pulling leaves off a Birkin like that is just brutal, that plant needed those to even survive. I get why you didn't say anything though, people get defensive real quick when you correct them, even if you're trying to help. It's like watching someone put diesel in a gas car, you want to yell but you just stand there stunned. You did your best just being a witness, that's all anyone can do sometimes.

Heard my buddy literally yelp "no no no" at a nursery once when he saw a lady ripping yellow leaves off a calathea, the owner just glared at him like he insulted her grandma lol. He just stood there with a bag of soil in his hand watching the carnage, couldn't even form words to explain why she was wrecking the plant. It's honestly one of those moments where you just have to let it go and silently mourn the plant.
