Had to pick between a monstera and a fiddle leaf fig for my bright corner
I moved into a new apartment in Austin 3 months ago and had this one window that gets perfect morning light. Couldn't decide between a monstera or a fiddle leaf fig since both would love that spot. Ended up going with the monstera because my friend warned me fiddles are drama queens with watering. So far so good - 3 new leaves unfurled and it's thriving. Anyone else had to make this choice and regret it?

Oh wow, no regrets? I'm genuinely shocked. My fiddle leaf fig dropped half its leaves within two weeks of bringing it home and I swear it judged me every time I walked past. The monstera is way more forgiving in my experience, you definitely made the right call. That drama queen fig would probably sulk if you looked at it wrong. How big is yours getting with that morning light?

My buddy Dave had the exact same thing happen with his fiddle leaf fig. He brought it home from the nursery, put it in a spot with what he thought was perfect light, and within a week it dropped every single leaf like it was trying to make a point. He said the plant just stared at him all sad and naked for months before he finally threw it out. Meanwhile his monstera that sat right next to it just kept putting out new leaves like nothing was wrong. He swears the fig is secretly a diva that needs constant praise and perfect conditions. I'll take a monstera any day over that kind of drama.
