I finally got my orchid to bloom again after three years of trying

Back in 2021, I bought a phalaenopsis orchid from a grocery store in Portland. It had beautiful white flowers, but after they dropped, it just grew leaves for years. I tried moving it to different windows, changing my watering, and even gave it special orchid food. Nothing worked until last month. I read that they need a big temperature drop at night to trigger blooming. So I started putting it on my cool, enclosed porch every evening for about two weeks. I checked it this morning and there are three tiny flower spikes starting. Has anyone else had to trick a stubborn plant like this to get it to flower?

That temperature trick works on my Christmas cactus too.

My Schlumbergera never bloomed for me until I ignored that advice, @alices16.
