I used to just grab any old pot from the garage for my orchids - now I'm obsessed with airflow
For years I'd stick my phalaenopsis in whatever glazed ceramic pot I had lying around, wondering why the roots rotted every spring. Then I switched to clear plastic pots with side slits about 6 months ago after a guy at the local garden center near Seattle told me orchids breathe through their roots. Has anyone else had that 'aha' moment where one tiny change saved all your plants?

Funny how that works, right? One little thing like airflow turns out to be the difference between killing a plant and keeping it alive. That's pretty much how half the stuff in life goes if you stop to think about it, just picking the wrong container and wondering why everything goes bad.

Not really about the container though lol. Airflow matters way more for the roots in the soil, the pot itself just holds everything. The real trick is making sure the soil drains fast enough and doesn't stay soggy.
