Just realized I've been killing my indoor ferns by overwatering for years

I used to water my Boston fern every single day because I thought more water = happier plant, but after it dropped leaves for the third time in six months, I finally looked up that ferns actually need to dry out between waterings. Now I stick my finger an inch into the soil before I even grab the watering can, and my fern at the office in Seattle has tripled in size since February. Anyone else figure out they were doing the exact opposite of what their plants needed?

Leave them alone and they'll thrive. I water mine like once a month (maybe less) and they're huge now. The trick is to ignore them until the soil is totally dry. Overwatering is basically a death sentence for those things.
