My Philodendron went from 3 leaves to 20 in one year using just tap water

I kept hearing people say you need distilled water for fussy plants but I got tired of buying jugs. Started watering my philodendron with straight tap water last January and it exploded with growth by December. Anybody else find that some of these 'rules' are just nonsense?

Tap water is all I use and my plants grow like crazy too.

Right, fancy water is just expensive dirt juice, isn't it?
