Pro tip: don't buy those cheap 'assorted succulent' packs online
I lost about $40 on a box of 10 that all arrived with root rot (the soil was soaking wet). What's a good place to get healthy cuttings that won't just die in a week?

Local plant swaps or garden centers are way more reliable for healthy succulents. You can actually check the roots and soil before buying anything. That's how I finally got some that didn't just fall apart.

Local sellers often have plants that are already used to your area's weather. They've been growing outside in similar conditions, not in a perfect greenhouse. That built up toughness makes a huge difference when you bring them home. Big box stores ship plants from far away, so they get shocked by the change. A local plant has already survived your summers and winters. That head start is worth the extra trip.

Wait, you actually check the roots before buying succulents, @richard581? I never thought to do that. Just grab whatever looks alive and hope for the best.
