PSA: I thought bottled fertilizer was a scam until my peace lily pushed out 4 new leaves in 3 weeks
For 2 years I mixed my own fish emulsion and kelp because a guy at the Nashville plant swap swore bottled stuff was just dyed water. My monstera kept stalling out at 3 leaves a season, so I finally caved and grabbed a $12 bottle of Dyna-Gro Foliage Pro. Diluted it to half strength every watering for the peace lily on my kitchen sill and it shot up 4 leaves by week 3. What's the actual catch with these, is it just the chelated iron or am I missing something?
Four leaves in 3 weeks on a peace lily is wild. That plant is a slow grower for me, like one leaf every month at best. The catch is probably that Dyna-Gro has the macros and micros already balanced, plus that chelated iron stays usable at your pH instead of locking up. Your fish and kelp mix feeds the soil but it doesn't hit NPK hard enough when the plant is actually pushing growth.
