Talking to my neighbor about her dying fiddle leaf fig got me rethinking how I care for plants

I was chatting with my neighbor Sarah last weekend and she mentioned her fiddle leaf fig lost all its leaves after she moved it three times in a month. She said she thought it needed more sun so she kept chasing the light. I mean, I've done that too with my pothos and ended up with crispy leaves. Kinda made me wonder if maybe we stress plants out by trying too hard to give them what we think they need. Has anyone else had a plant go downhill because you moved it around too much?

My mom killed a snake plant by giving it too much talk time.

My two year old aloe shriveled up after I tried talking to it too, totally on your side now.
