TIL about a plant that can actually hear water...
I was reading a study from the University of Western Australia and found out the pea plant can detect water vibrations through its roots. It surprised me because I always figured they just grew toward moisture... not that they were listening for it. Has anyone else come across research on plant senses that blew their mind?

Wow that's wild! My friend's bonsai actually leans toward her running sink, guess it was listening for it lol.

Wait, the pea plant can literally hear water running underground? That's nuts, I thought my tomatoes were just getting lucky with the sprinkler timing.

The University of Western Australia study is the one that got me too. I mean, it makes sense to just water deeply at the base and avoid the guesswork. If they're actually sensing vibrations, then erratic surface sprinkling probably just confuses the root system. I stick to a solid soak schedule for my own plants now, idk, it seems to work better.
