Unpopular take: pruned my monstera way too hard in July and it finally pushed out 4 new leaves
Everyone in my plant group in Portland keeps saying you should only prune monsteras in spring, but mine was leggy and sad so I chopped 6 stems back in July anyway. Two of those stems died back, but by the third week of August the plant pushed out 4 new leaves from spots that had been bare for over a year. Has anyone else noticed their plants throwing new growth after a hard cut in summer, or did I just get lucky?
Wait, two of the stems actually died back on you? That part is wild to me because I always figured a hard summer chop would just rot or shock the whole thing. Four new leaves from bare spots in like five weeks is nuts though, those nodes must have been sitting there waiting forever. I chopped mine in June last year and got nothing but sad stumps for months, so maybe the heat is what kicked yours into gear.
