Went to the community garden and nobody watered the tomatoes
I walked over to the small community garden near my apartment last Wednesday to see how things were growing. The squash and peppers looked fine, but the tomato plants were all droopy and sad. I noticed a sign that said "water schedule changed" with no new info, so I grabbed a bucket and gave them a good soak. Does your local garden group struggle with keeping up on watering too?

People are way too dramatic about a few droopy plants. Tomatoes bounce back fast after a good soak, a little neglect actually makes them develop stronger roots. If the garden falls apart cause someone missed a day maybe the real problem is people babying their plants too much.

Ugh, that's so frustrating! I've seen it happen a lot. People sign up for a week and then just forget. Or they go on vacation and don't tell anyone. We had the same problem at our garden. Someone put up a big whiteboard with a weekly schedule. We also added phone numbers for backup people. It's not perfect but it helps a ton.
