I finally stopped worrying about brain implant rejection after a chat with a researcher

I was at a local tech meetup in Portland last month and a neuroscientist from OHSU told me their lab has been testing flexible polymer electrodes that actually move with brain tissue instead of cutting into it. She showed me data from a 2 year animal study where the scarring was basically zero. Has anyone else here looked into how materials like that could change the timeline for human trials?

Glad you got to chat with someone who actually works on this stuff. That flexible polymer approach sounds really promising, I've been hearing more about it too. Always good to know the rejection risk might not be as scary as it used to be.

Yeah, fingers crossed they get that polymer stuff sorted before my body decides my next burger is a threat. My immune system's already got a reputation for overreacting to everything else.
