That neuroscientist at Johns Hopkins told me I was chasing false peaks in my EEG readings

I used to focus on boosting my gamma waves as high as possible during meditation sessions. But Dr. Chen at the Hopkins lab showed me my readings were full of muscle artifacts from clenching my jaw, not real brain activity. She said I needed to relax my face completely and look for sustained theta patterns instead. Has anyone else had to completely rework their signal processing after professional feedback?

Were you getting tension headaches or neck pain from all that jaw clenching? I'm curious if the physical symptoms tipped you off before the lab feedback, or if that was a total surprise.

Yeah I don't know, are people really getting medical advice from a single lab visit and completely changing their whole approach? Seems like you could just relax your face without making it some big scientific breakthrough.
