Tried a Muse headband for focus tracking, got a spike every time I yawned
I used it for a week straight and the data showed my supposed "focus peaks" lined up with when I was tired, so is this thing measuring brain waves or just muscle fatigue, and has anyone else seen weird patterns that make you question the whole setup?

My buddy actually borrowed my Muse for a weekend and he kept getting these crazy high "focus" readings while watching baseball. I asked what he was doing and he said he was just taking deep breaths every time his team almost scored. So the whole time he was just relaxed and breathing deep, but the thing was calling it focus. He also got a big spike when he sneezed really hard during a close play. Made me wonder if it's just picking up any little face movement or breathing change and calling it something it's not.

Is it really that deep though? It's a $200 toy not a medical device. Brain waves are just electrical signals, yawning makes your whole head move.
