Finished my first gable end wall today, actually proud of it

I've been laying brick for about 2 years now, mostly doing small retaining walls and garden edging. Today my boss let me take a shot at a full gable end on a garage in Springfield. The first course took me 45 minutes just getting the angle right, but after that it clicked and I knocked out the rest in 3 hours. The difference from where I was 6 months ago is huge, back then I would have messed up the corners twice and had to tear it out. Has anyone else had a moment where a tricky wall just made sense all of a sudden?

You say it "clicked" but honestly that first course being a 45 minute struggle sounds more like you got lucky with the rest than it actually clicking. I've seen too many guys get confident off one good wall and then blow the next one.

Man that's a rough way to look at it. I've been that guy who got one good wall and thought I was on fire, then just fell apart on the next one.
