Hot take: My uncle was wrong about mixing mortar in a wheelbarrow
He swore by a wheelbarrow for small jobs, but after a tough day on a patio in Phoenix, I switched to a mixing tub and cut my prep time in half. The tub's shape kept everything together better and my arms didn't feel like jelly by noon. Anyone else find the old wheelbarrow method just doesn't hold up?

Honestly the biggest thing people miss is how much mortar you waste in a wheelbarrow. All that leftover stuck to the curved sides is a pain to scrape out, and in this heat it sets up way too fast. A flat tub lets you get every last bit mixed properly without fighting the shape.
