I was helping a buddy rebuild a chimney in Akron and saw him use a laser level for the entire thing. Changed my whole process.

Man, laser levels are a total game changer for masonry. I used to fight with strings and a bubble level forever. Now I just set the laser and go, and everything stays perfectly plumb. It cuts the job time in half, easy.

Oh man, @the_mary, you're not kidding! I remember trying to line up a simple brick planter with a string level and it looked like a toddler stacked it by the time I was done. Now with a laser, I set it once and every single course is just locked in. It feels like cheating, but I'm not going back to the old way. My buddy still calls it a "fancy toy" until he needs a straight wall.
