Honestly I gotta push back on this a little. Old timers have a lot of wisdom but they also grew up in a totally different world with different rules and risks. That Phoenix job site advice might have worked great back in the 80s but codes and safety standards have changed so much since then, you could end up with a real mess on your hands. Ngl I've seen too many people follow "that's how we always did it" only to fail inspection or worse.
