When a delivery guy took over my bricklaying for five minutes
I was working on a small brick patio with a coworker yesterday. A delivery driver pulled up to the house next to ours. He watched us for a bit, then said he used to lay bricks as a kid. Next thing I know, he hops off his truck and grabs a trowel. He started putting bricks down all willy-nilly, saying his way was quicker. My buddy and I just stared, not sure what to do. The homeowner came out and asked if we hired extra help. We all had a good chuckle about it after. Has something like this ever happened to you on site?

So did you let him keep going or did you have to redo his work? I've had guys jump in before and it always ends with us fixing their mess later. That "quicker" way usually means skipping steps that matter.

Oh man, that is HILARIOUS. Did he at least put the bricks down okay? I had a city inspector once who saw us struggling with a tricky pipe fitting and just took the wrench out of my hand. He fixed it in like two minutes, said he did plumbing before he took the desk job. We were all just standing there blinking. It's wild when random people just jump in like they're part of the crew.
