Booked a $9 overnight bus instead of a $38 train and I'm still annoyed about it
So I was trying to get from Chicago down to Nashville for a friend's wedding and I had two choices. The train was $38 and took about 8 hours. The bus was $9 and took 11 hours overnight. I picked the bus because that $29 felt like a lot at the time and I figured I'd just sleep through it. Big mistake. The seat reclined maybe two inches, the guy behind me talked on speakerphone from midnight to 3am, and we stopped at like 5 different gas stations where everyone piled off to smoke. I got to Nashville at 7am looking like a zombie, went straight to the hotel lobby to try and nap in a chair, and then sat through the whole ceremony fighting to keep my eyes open. Spent $14 on coffee that day just to function, so there went half my savings. Next time I'm paying the $38, no question. Anyone got a system for actually sleeping on these cheap overnight routes or is it just suffering?
