Found a trick that saved me $200 on a flight to Denver last month

I was about to book a direct flight to Denver for $400 but got frustrated and tried searching for flights out of a smaller airport an hour away instead. Ended up paying $210 round trip from a regional airport I'd never used before. Has anyone else had luck skipping the big hubs for cheap tickets?

Oh man, I had the opposite problem. I tried flying out of a smaller airport once to save money and my connection got cancelled, ended up stuck overnight in Dallas. So it's a gamble for sure. But $210 round trip to Denver? That's a steal. I'd drive an hour for that kind of savings any day.

Oh man, my friend Lisa did something similar last year... she drove two hours to some tiny airport in Pennsylvania just to save like $300 on a trip to Chicago. Said it was totally worth it even with the gas money.
