I finally realized I wasted $45 on a 'universal' travel adapter that doesn't work in half of Southeast Asia

Bought it from a random electronics stall in Bangkok thinking I was being smart but it keeps overheating in Vietnam plugs and now I'm stuck charging my phone at 2am in the hostel lobby, anyone have a guaranteed adapter brand that actually handles Laos outlets?

Oh man I bought the exact same kind of adapter from a stall in Khao San Road and it melted a little in a hostel in Luang Prabang. Get the Skross brand ones from an actual tech shop not a street vendor. They work in every weird shaped outlet I've tried so far. Vietnam and Laos both use type A/C mixed plugs but the voltage spikes are the real killer. Your phone will survive but cheap adapters won't.
