I spent $40 on a portable water filter and it paid for itself in 3 days
Back in 2019 I was traveling through Mexico and kept buying plastic water bottles every few hours. Finally got one of those Sawyer squeeze filters for like $40 at a camping store. Ended up using it for 2 months straight, filling up from any tap or stream. That saved me probably $150 in bottled water and way less plastic trash. Has anyone else tried those or found another way to avoid buying water all the time?

Weren't you worried about getting sick from random streams though?

Honestly I think people overthink this stuff. You're more likely to get sick touching a door handle at the grocery store than drinking from some random stream.
