My hostel booking through a third party site fell through in Bangkok last month

I showed up at 11pm after a 14 hour flight and they had zero record of my reservation. Ended up paying $35 for a last minute room at some place down the street that had mold in the bathroom. Has anyone else had hostels screw up bookings from those discount aggregator sites?

Used to think those sites were fine for saving money but honestly this is why I stopped using them. That moldy room for $35 sounds rough, sorry that happened to you.

And hey, at least for $35 you got a free biology lesson on mold growth rates. I bet the air quality was complimentary too, just like the dust bunnies under the bed. Honestly, you probably could have charged extra for the interactive science experience. Maybe next time you can find a place that offers complimentary hazmat suits along with the discount rate. Still, props for getting out alive with only a case of the wheezes.
