Question about booking a rental car in Lisbon

I was paying $60 a day for a compact until a local told me to check the train station's on-site desks, where I got the same car for $28. Anyone know other cities where the airport counter is a total rip-off?

Yeah, the ferry terminals are often cheaper too.

Oh wow, I read that airport rental desks in Dublin are crazy expensive too.

Actually had a pretty good experience at Dublin airport last year. Booked online ahead of time and the price was fine, not much more than the city center. Leo_kelly is right about ferry spots sometimes being cheaper, but the airport is super convenient if you're flying in tired. The key is just to never, ever walk up to the counter without a booking already done.
