Appreciation post: I finally figured out how to cut my grocery bill in half
Back in 2020, my weekly food shop was hitting $150 easy for just two people. I felt stuck until I tried a strict 'meal plan from the flyer' rule. Now, every Sunday I grab the store ad and only plan meals around the 5-7 items on sale that week. Last week, chicken thighs were 99 cents a pound and broccoli was on a BOGO, so that's what we ate. It forced me to get creative and stopped all the random extra buys. My bill last trip was $74. Has anyone else had luck with a rigid sale-based system, or did it drive you nuts after a while?

That "meal plan from the flyer" rule is smart. Do you ever find it hard when the sale items are all random stuff you don't normally use? Like, what did you make when it was just like, cauliflower and pork chops for a whole week?

Tried that and just learned to cook with whatever was cheap.

Yeah my buddy @tyler_hunt72 actually tried that flyer method last year and ended up with a ton of frozen broccoli and ground turkey. He just made turkey burgers with broccoli slaw for like a week straight, said it was decent but he got real sick of it.
